PHAIDON BOOK LAUNCH
Audra with the author, Joan Barzilay Freund, and Tony Freund.
I was back in New York to attend the designers’ launch party for Defining Style: The Book of Interior Design by tastemaker Joan Barzilay Freund. It was such a treat to be in such fine company, among friends and legendary talents that I have long admired.
The party was held in a brownstone on the Upper East Side that once was the residence and studio of Richard Avedon. The entire home was marvellously decorated with delicious layers of personal artefacts and collections, a true collector’s home. The cherry on top was the basement photography studio turned reference library and family hang out space. Standing in that coved concrete cave, it was impossible to imagine the iconic portraits that shaped the 20th century’s collective memory had been made in the place where I was standing!
Afterwards, it was off to Bemelman’s for a little celebrating with an extra dirty gin martini!
I’ve said it before, but it warrants repeating, it is such an honor to have our interior design work featured alongside the talents of Rose Uniacke, Studio Shamshiri, Laura Gonzalez, and Vincenzo De Cotiis, among other legendary creatives. When I started this firm two years ago, recognition like this felt like an impossible dream, and I feel both proud and incredibly humbled to have my work included in what the Telegraph has lauded as the 'new interior design bible.'
