Historical cobalt porcelain was created using precious ground lapis lazuli (the same pigment covering the ceiling of Giotto’s Scrovegni Chapel) or cobalt oxide, a toxic substance that can cause personality changes if inhaled during grinding or heating. Unusually, this box is glazed inside and out, a challenging double process that requires expert skill, even by Limoges standards.

    If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, returns are accepted with receipt on eligible items for store credit within 14 days of delivery.
